To celebrate all things Sunshine Coast Pride Festival, A.K. Mulford, in partnership with Queer Writers Queensland will lead a two-day writers challenge based on their successful 3 Days to 30k online writers community.
All participants will have the opportunity to have their work published in a Queer Writers Queensland Anthology.

Regarding Our 2025 Queer Writers Festival...
To begin with, Queer Writers Queensland would like to acknowledge how challenging, exhausting and overwhelming circumstances in 2025 have been. Particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your interest in the inaugural Queer Writers Festival.
Unfortunately, due to this year’s pressures, we can no longer run the Queer Writers Festival. As such, it is being put on indefinite hiatus until we can re-establish that real-world stability.
Now, importantly, what does this mean for you? After discussion, we have devised a way to transition our presenters' content and expertise into a new format. More specifically, we will be creating a virtual venue space for our queer writing community.
This venue will exist on Gather. A virtual live-streaming platform that will allow you to create a custom gender-affirming avatar and explore a space specifically designed for you. This will allow you to reach queer creatives across Queensland without ever having to leave your home. The venue space will be dynamic, fluid, and adjust with the wants and needs of our community as it continues to grow.
This will take time to organise. We will require a few months to transition ourselves across to this virtual space and set it up. Rather than a single festival day in 2025, we will be looking at delivering workshops in this virtual format from mid-to-late 2026 onward. For workshops still requiring physical materials, we will be looking at supplying a physical venue as a special event.
